"The Loft" located above the library is now open for business. The second floor of the library was transformed into a cool quiet study area and audio visual area. The library has moved all the audio tapes, audio books, DVD's, video tapes, compact discs to the second floor along with a stereo and a television and VCR/DVD player. The library on the Ottumwa Campus will be celebrating banned book week with a display of challenged or banned books of 2006. The American Library Association is celebrating the 26th annual Banned Book Week with the theme "Ahoy! Treasure Your Freedom to Read and Get Hooked on a Banned Book." Banned books week is observed during the last week of September each year. Observed since 1982, this annual ALA event reminds Americans not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted. The most challenged book of 2006 is the book "And Tango makes three" by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell. The book is about two male penguins parenting an egg from a mixed-sex penguin couple.
